In Ohio, a trained serviceperson is applying a pesticide. How close must the supervising commercial applicator be during that work?
- On the application site for the entire job. Remote contact is not allowed.
- Anywhere in Ohio, as long as the serviceperson can place a phone call.
- Within 25 miles of the site, or within two hours of the site.
- At the business that sold the pesticide, for the whole application.
During the application, the supervisor must be within 25 miles or two hours of the site.
The rule does not require the supervisor to remain on the site the whole time.
A phone call from anywhere in Ohio does not meet the limit.
The limit is measured to the work site, not to the seller.
901:5-11-02(A)(3)You want an Ohio commercial applicator license. You passed the general core exam and failed every pesticide-use category exam. What does the exam rule require?
- A core-only license, valid for one year while you schedule a category retake.
- You may apply commercially for five business days, the minimum retest wait.
- The private-applicator path: core alone can be enough to issue the license.
- No license yet. You must also pass at least one pesticide-use category exam.
A commercial license needs a passing core exam and at least one category exam.
The rule does not offer a core-only commercial license.
Five business days is the earliest retest. It is not permission to work.
The private-applicator exception does not cover this commercial license.
